Brookings Substation, Stage 09

The Brookings Substation, Stage 09 will completely replace the existing Brookings Substation once it is completed. The new substation scopes of work include: site work (constructed an entire new substation pad); gravel surfacing; concrete foundations; control house construction; 1250 linear feet of cable trench; above and below grade conduit and grounding; steel erection; rigid and strain buses; power and control cable installation and termination; substation lighting; existing removals; and major equipment installation, including: (11) - 115kV power circuit breakers, (1) - 69kV power circuit breaker, (18) - 115kV disconnect switches, (6) - 115kV disconnecting switches w/ ground blades, (3) - 69kV disconnect switches, (6) - 115kV VT's, (4) - 69kV VT's, (6) - 115kV CT's, (3) - 69kV CT's, (21) - 115kV CCVT's, (3) - 14.4kV VT's. Along with new equipment installation, the Brookings Substation, Stage 09 required us to move existing equipment from the existing Brookings Substation to new foundations in the new Brookings Substation. This equipment includes: (1) - 115-69kV power transformer, (2) 115kV power circuit breakers, (2) - 115kV shunt capacitor banks, (2) - 115kV ground switch. The project is substantially completed and we are waiting on WAPA crews to commission the new substation. Once WAPA has the new Brookings Substation equipment commissioned, we will take an outage and move the remaining equipment to the new location in the new Brookings Substation. Construction should be completed by May, 2020.
