Tande 345/230kV Substation
The Tande project is a 345/230kV substation for Basin Electric Power Cooperative located about 5 miles East of Tioga ND. Tande Substation will be one of the last stops for the 345kV loop around western North Dakota. The substation has one 345kV line terminal and two 230kV line terminals with an option to add up to two more 345kV and five more 230kV line terminals in the future. The frigid cold temperatures compounded with the record snow fall we saw in the 2016 and 2017 winter made it difficult to work through the winter, but our crews bundled up and took it slow through these months. It was really good cordination by our crews to ensure we had the right type of work develop during these months. Highmark Erectors crews completed almost all the underground work during the fall of 2016. We left the erecting steel and equipment for the cold months. Completion of this project should be about June of 2017, though we do have until August of 2017 to complete work.
Our safety commitment far exceeds industry standards because we understand that in order to be successful, safety has to be paramount.
